About The Filmmaker:
James Tucker is an independent filmmaker living
and working in California. He attend college at
Maryland's, Morgan State University, where he
studied film, television and radio production.
In 1987, Tucker received a Bachelor of Arts
degree and the award for the most outstanding
student in television. A seasoned director with
an extensive background in film and video, he
has produced a variety of visual media, such as
documentaries, promotional tapes, training
tapes, and music videos.
Over the years he
has written, directed and or produced a number
of direct-to-video feature films such as, BAD
PLACAS, BOULEVARD GANGS,
KANE AND ABEL,
EVERYBODY PLAYS
THE FOOL,
ROULETTE, EYE FOR EYE, LUNATIC, OBSESSION, URBAN
COMBAT, KNIGHT WALKS, THE GAME, EXECUTIVE
ACTION, FLESH MERCHANT and HUMAN PREY.
Tucker is currently working with Ross Jordan and
Douglas Rodgers on a number of feature length
films. One of the projects they will be shooting
in New York City, THE SAVAGE ROSES, it's a harsh
realistic and often humorous drama that takes
you into the life of a young Latin girl from the
Bronx. Her rough childhood has thrown her into a
life of gang violence. On the outside is though
and hard, appearing heartless, but inside she is
yearning for acceptance and love. It is only
when she meets Michelle, who sees through her
facade to the truth inside of her.
HOOD RATS is another feature film, the
screenplay for HOOD RATS was written by Malice
Straughter, Henry Straughtera and James Tucker.
The straughter brothers are the rappers from the
group, the 40 THEVZ. The 40 THEVEZ (formally:
COOLIO and the 40THEVZ) received worldwide music
industry exposure. They appeared on numerous
television programs such as, DAVID LETTERMAN,
JAY LENO, ROSIE O'DONALD, SOUL TRAIN and
FRIDAYNITE VIDEOS. Their newest CD, LEF 4 DEAD
was just released and is now selling at major
music retailers. Tucker just finished the music
video for their current single, THINK ABOUT
THIS.
Tucker says his company continues to expand and
grow, "we have a number of very talented
screenwriters under contract, who supply us with
more interesting screenplays:. Tucker plans to
direct some of the key up coming projects, but
will also hire a few producers and directors to
develop projects. Tucker says they will continue
to build their company. "we are looking towards
co-productions, maybe pre-sales, negative
pick-up or even a development deal". "Our
television project, LIFE AND TIMES, is a series
pilot about a black female defense attorney, who
lives and works in Atlanta". Tucker went on to
say, "Our goal is to make each film, the story
and production values, better then the last".
Tucker also a union actor, has appeared in
numerous film and television productions. Some

DAYS OF OUR LIVES, THE HORRIBLE DR. BONES,
SAVAGE SEASON, SURVIVING THE HUNT, CRIMINAL

continues to direct and Produce independent
features while teaching DV filmmaking.
